Swans Score Six As Guernsey Demolished
By Frankie Boweren
Walton & Hersham recorded a spectacular 6-0 victory against Guernsey on Saturday afternoon as the Swans climb up to second in the table.
With six completely different goal scorers this game was certainly one to remember for the team as they look forward to a shot at the title.
Coming off the back of a narrow 3-2 defeat at Southall this result was the perfect thing for the side, and they can definitely come out stronger from this game.
Their first goal did not take very long to come, as in the 11th minute when The Swans intercepted a wayward Guernsey pass, the ball was played direct to the left hand side where it was then put into the 6 yard box, the ball was cleared however and Maliq Morris latched onto the open ball and arrowed a shot into the bottom left corner to give The Swans a deserved 1-0 lead.
Shortly after the first goal, Palace Francis brought the ball into the box from the left-hand side, sat the opposing defender down with some slick dribbling and lashed a powerful shot towards the goalkeeper which he could only manage to parry away. The loose ball was then collected by Dominic Ogun who calmy took his chance and doubled the lead on the day.
Five minutes after the second goal a third was closely added when Dominic Ogun ran onto a forward’s ball and played the simplest of passes across the area, finding Jordan Adeyemi who did not make any mistake and tucked it away.
The Swan’s fourth goal can easily be seen as the pick of the bunch however and could easily be seen as the goal of the season. Palace Francis picked up the ball from around 40 yards, steadied himself and unleashed an absolute rocket from the left-hand side, dipping the ball over the goalkeeper and clattering off the crossbar to add the fourth and final goal before half time.
Walton & Hersham made two changes at the break, taking off Joe Hicks and Dominic Ogun for Charlie Nicholas and Jude Molloy.
Shortly after that Alex Kelly also made way for Brian Garzon
It took 20 minutes after the restart for The Swans to add a fifth, but they eventually found their way through courtesy of Jordan Adeyemi who found himself through on goal, drove the ball down the pitch and put the opportunity on a plate for substitute Brian Garzon who comfortably finished the chance just six minutes after coming on.
It was unfortunately a day to forget for the Guernsey goalkeeper, as for their sixth he was caught flat footed and a poorly taken touch was punished by Taurean Roberts who disposed the ball into an open net with just ten minutes remaining.
The goals stopped there as Walton & Hersham recorded their biggest score line of the season so far, also allowing them to leapfrog both Basingstoke Town and Marlow to sit pretty in second place.
